Fall in Virginia means 2 things, cool weather and LEAVES. I’m always looking for fun craft projects to do with the kids on those cold, rainy fall days. This Fall Suncatcher uses real leaves and sticks; and according to my 5 year old, “Its super awesome that mom lets us bring sticks and leaves in the house on purpose!” Even the older kids had fun with this one, which is rare unless the activity involves a cell phone.

What will you need?

• Sticks ( 4 about the same size )
• Leaves
• Clear Contact Paper
• Twine or Yarn
• Scissors & Hole Punch

How to make the Fall Suncatcher

Start by making a square with 4 sticks. This will be the frame of your suncatcher.

Using twine or yarn, tie the corners together. Tie them tight.

Cut 2 pieces of clear contact paper larger than your frame

Pull the backing off the first piece of contact paper and place it sticky side up.

Put your frame in the center of the contact paper and start arranging your leaves.

Pull the backing off the second piece of contact paper and place sticky side down over your leaves.

Trace around you frame so you know where to cut . . . then cut.

Use a hole puncher to make holes all the way around your contact paper. This is how you will attach the leaves to your frame.

Using twine or yard; go over the stick, through the hole, and back around the stick. ( kind of like sewing)
