Earth Day. Every Day.
As much as I’d love to say we celebrate Earth Day every day, the truth is, somedays I’m disappointed in myself. Last week we cleaned out our old van and found 13 (not empty) water bottles. Even my 7-year-old said that was “a butt load of bottles.” I’m not 100% sure exactly what that measurement means, but she was right. Not to mention that at about $1.50 per bottle, I had spent more in one week on the water than our Netflix and Disney+ subscriptions combined for the entire month.
The ridiculous amount of unnecessary plastic in our van got us all motivated to “reduce, reuse, recycle”. A slogan my 7-year-old has been chanting for the past week. I am honestly surprised at how much all 5 of my kids have gotten involved in going green since the “butt load of plastic” conversation.
All the bottles
Since we had already accumulated so many empty water bottles and it was the first official weekend of spring, turning them into seedling cups was perfect.
- Cut the bottles in half
- Poke holes at the bottom for drainage
- Fill with soil
- Place a few seeds in each one
- Water
- Wait…
